Train in the woods: Martini Junction is a model train built in the Needham Forest, consisting of 120 feet of tracks. Along the way to the track you'll bump into random pieces of minature pieces of scenery.
If you want to see the train in motion you have to be lucky enough to go on a day when the builder of Martini Junction, Jim Metcalf, a retired design engineer is there. Jim and his wife Evelyn, discovered the spot during one of their hikes year ago, and though it was a nice place to relax.
To get to the track, enter the trail to the far right, at the end of Robinwood Avenue in Needham.
Follow the white trail, indicated by the number 12 and marked by white marks on trees, along with cute, tiny birdhouses.
After a 5-10 minute walk (depending on how fast or slow you walk), take the unmarked trail off to the right indicated by the number 11. The tiny treehouses now has an orange roof.
Walk for another 5-10 minutes. You know you're heading the right way when small pieces of scenery appears along the way.
